New year new you or post Christmas blues?

I was a little laid up over Christmas as a few of you may know, it did have its advantages though as oddly as it might sound...
While everyone else was out partying I was at home making a killing on ebay 'cos no one was at home bidding against me! Over the course of Christmas I spent about fifty quid on ebay (very unusual for me but I had sold a pile of stuff  on there a couple of weeks prior to fund my extravagance!) and you won't believe what I got for my money! I think the postman thought we'd won the lottery - though I am very peed off with Royal Mail who 'lost' my hard won speckled Arancrafts cardigan :@ It's a good job the purchase was covered by Paypal so I got a full refund. The poor seller was mortified, she had posted it out to me second class signed for on the 13th of December, we thought it might have just got caught up in the massive increase in the amounts of mail that we see every Christmas but when it still hadn't arrived by the 27th of December I think I realised I was never going to see it. My poor seller had been away for a few days and came back with a case open on ebay for a full refund! So much for recorded delivery...

Any way, back to my ebay bargains. I have a passion for cashmere jumpers - I think it is a wonderful and luxurious wool that, thanks to its thermal properties means it is warm to wear when it's cold out but also cool when it's mormally too warm for a wool jumper. Now normally my meagre fashion budget would not stretch to cashmere, even the £40 or so for a Florence and Fred Tesco one but I have quite a collection in my wardrobe, including Brora, White Stuff and Deane & White - and I haven't paid more than a tenner for any of them! I managed to add a lovely Brora brown rollneck sweater to my collection for £6.99 and it looked like it had never been worn! I also bagged
this Tommy and Kate raspberry red leather bag for the unbelievable price of £1.79 plus £2.99 post and packing along with an Marks and Spencer large black leather hobo bag for a similar price!
The bargain that made my day though were an amazing pair of All Saints black leather military boots, something I have been after for a while as I wanted some to wear with my latest craze for winter shorts and woollen tights - again they looked brand new and after a quick wipe down inside with an anti - bacterial spray they might as well have been! These set me back £12.72 and £3.99 post and packing - serious bargain!
A pair of Topshop tartan shorts (yes, tartan!), a pair of dark brown Zara leather shorts and two pairs of kid leather gloves, a dark brown Billy Bag pair and these Hobbs ruched purple leather ones completed my Christmas Eve spending spree and made me a very happy girlie! :)
I also managed to track down a supplier of the afore-mentioned Arancrafts speckled cardigan too in the first week of January, so as soon as my Paypal refund came through I ordered one and am very pleased with it - it looks amazing with the tartan shorts, black opaque tights, All Saints boots and my leather gloves!

Are you a frugal fashionista or are you flash with the cash?

Fashion means lots of things to many different people. If I was to ask you what your views on fashion were, what would you say?
The way I see it, fashion and style are two very different things. I am hardly one to talk about fashion. I admit to being vague about what's in 'Vogue', I have no interest in 'Haute Couture' or the latest must have handbag, nor do I rush out to copy the latest celeb trend (even if I wanted to do any of these things I couldn't afford to!)
But I know what I like and more importantly - I like to feel comfortable. I gave up wearing high heels a long time ago because I found them uncomfortable and they have never really fitted in to my lifestyle. I have little regard for other peoples opinions on my choice of clothes either, life is too short to worry about such things! If I like something and it's comfortable, suitable for whatever I am doing at the time and attainable in terms of my (usually meagre) budget then I will wear it - and throw the consequences to the wind. That's just me, my style, my way of doing things...now where can I get me one of those cosy looking, adult sized babygro's...!
